Week of March 13th - March 17th

Dear families, Happy St Patrick's Day!  Students have been working hard on finishing up their Iroquois Unit this week. The students will have their test on Monday and have a concept map they did for review to hand in with it! Next we will be looking at the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  In science, students have been making experiments with mixtures and mixing/separating mixtures. We are discussing reversible/irreversible changes and chemical changes next week! I hope the more hands on approach has been helping cement the ideas they are learning this unit.  For Grade 6 math, students have finished up ratios and will be wrapping up their fraction, decimal, percent and ratios unit on Monday. We will be moving in algebra next, I hope they are excited! Grade 5's have been working on fractions and equivalent fractions and will be exploring the relationship between fractions and decimals.  BOOK CLUBS! Please check in with your kids this weekend as they will have a job to do for Mo

Week of February 27th - March 3rd

Hello families, What an exciting week! We had another "Take Me Outside Day" on Thursday where the students got to spend the afternoon in the beautiful weather. It was so nice to see the students experimenting with art and building while they got fresh air and interact with everyone in the school.  This week students have been formally practicing their newspaper writing skills. You can view their two practice pieces on Google Classroom, although some students have this to do for homework still. The idea is this is supposed to be a timed writing practice (especially for the 6's who need to write these for PATs). We will be continuing this into next week and having our last timed practice end of next week.  Grade 6's in Math have created a flipgrid on Google Classroom to show their understanding of fractions and summarize everything they have been learning. We will be moving into decimals and percentage and how the three all relate together in the coming weeks. Grade 5&
