Week of September 26th - September 30th

 Hello families,

What a lovely week! Students have been engaging in Orange Shirt Day reflections and activities throughout the week leading up to Truth and Reconciliation Day. It has been nice to see how the students engage with the subject matter and show respect in the conversations they have around the purpose of Orange Shirt Day.

In Math we have looked at Factors and Multiples in the Grade 6 community. Students have explored factor trees and building factors of a product as well as finding the Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple of two numbers. The Grade 5 community have begun to look at multiplication through patterns, visualizing and exploring.

In Social Studies, students have started defining citizenship and what that looks like in Canada. Our book "Ban this Book" has been mentioning the "Bill of Rights" and students had an opportunity to explore that and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms this week.

In Science we have tackled the Nutrient Cycle. Students were tasked with being able to explain it in their own words in class, see if they can explain it to you!

Homework this week includes:

- Finishing their Perfect Classmate (very overdue)

- Reading Timelines were due today so they need to have those in Monday if they are not complete.

Enjoy the long weekend and get ready to run on Monday for our Terry Fox Run, follow this link to donate on behalf of our school.  https://schools.terryfox.ca/6084
