Week of January 30th - February 3rd

 Hello families,

Our time has finally come!! Open Minds is next week! A few things to note for our field trip to Arts Commons next week:

-Bussing is slightly delayed in the morning and we will now depart at 8:45am.

-Please dress for the weather as we will be going outside.

-Pack a lunch, water bottle and bring your indoor shoes.

-Students are asked to keep cell phones in their backpacks during the field trip (just like a regular school day).

Parents who are volunteering, I will send you a separate email outlining the week. I really appreciate you taking the time to join us.

Aside from preparing for Art School, this week we finished exploring transformations in Math. The students challenged themselves with one last project to demonstrate their understanding of plotting coordinate points, setting up their cartesian plane and performing the three transformations.

In Social Studies the students were given time to learn a little bit more about who the Haudenosaunee are and how they lived. We have explored the background of the Iroquois Confederacy before we begin to dive into the structure of their decision making.

In Science the students have been researching a Scientific event or piece of technology. They will have one more research day and 2 days to put their project together when we come back from Open Minds. That will wrap up our Sky Science unit as we move towards Chemistry.

We have been practicing our summarizing skills and finding the main/key points of information in ELA. This will set us up to be successful in our Newspaper writing unit that we will begin to tackle when we come back.

As a reminder, Report Cards did come out this Monday for you to review with your child. You can access them through PowerSchool.

Please let me know if you have any questions about next week or your children's learning!
